Silent Retreat for Women & Men

As we reflect on this harvest season each year, we find ourselves, as individuals, as families, as a nation, gathering to share praise and thanksgiving, our response to all that God has so generously shared with us. Let's count a few blessings!

Fr. Joseph Fice, S.J., spent 25 years as a religious educator in Jesuit high schools in California and Arizona. He taught at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, Loyola High School in Los Angeles, and Brophy Preparatory School in Phoenix. His academic interests evolved from mathematics to a deep interest in scripture and ethics. After earning a B.S. in Mathematics from Loyola University of Los Angeles, he received an M.A. in Philosophy from Gonzaga University and an S.T.M. in Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. A lecturer in Philosophy at Loyola University of Los Angeles from 1967 to 1969, his subsequent high school teaching focused on Scripture and Catholic Christianity.

Ms. Anne Grycz is the Director of the Institute for Leadership in Ministry in the Diocese of San Jose and works closely both with the Jesuit Retreat Center in Los Altos and Santa Clara University's Campus Ministry.  She is adjunct faculty at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park and involved with Permanent Deacon and Advanced Lay Leadership Formation in the diocese.  She is a graduate of the Pierre Favre Program.

Assisting

Fr. Kevin Ballard, S.J. was born in San Francisco and raised in a traveling military family, joined the Society of Jesus in 1972 and was ordained in 1985. His ministry, mainly in parishes, has also included community organizing, high school teaching, and retreat work. Three years in Kathmandu, Nepal were a highlight and delight. His ongoing interest in Ignatian Spirituality has entailed directing the Spiritual Exercises in their various forms. Since 1981, the blessings of the 12 Steps have been key to life and work. Judaism has been an ongoing inspiration. He is blessed to live sober, one day at a time, since 1981. Kevin is recreated by languages, bird-watching and "staring into space!"

Sr. Ingrid Honoré-Lallande, C.S.J., earned a Masters degree in Educational Administration from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California and a Masters of Divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. She has served as a teacher/administrator at the Elementary level, as a Registrar and Director of Admissions at the Graduate level and as a Campus Minister and Spiritual Director at Santa Clara University. Most recently she completed the 9-month Internship Program in the Ministry of Spiritual Direction at Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario, Canada where she was certified to direct the 30-day Spiritual Exercises. She is currently directing retreats and is available for on-going spiritual direction.

Fr. Larry Percell was ordained in 2003, after a 30-year marriage that ended with his wife's untimely death. He has a daughter, a son, three granddaughters and one grandson. He has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and is currently the pastor of St. Nicholas Parish in Los Altos—so he's responsible for the souls of our Retreat Center Jesuit community!

Fr. Duc Vu, S.J., a software engineer before joining the Jesuits, was ordained in 2002 and served in a parish until 2007. An M.F.A. in Creative Writing reflects his interest in life as story. He likes to explore the creative dynamic among stories human and divine, as well as the fascinating dialectic between our corporeality and spirituality.
